Whitsundays

Location : East o9f Airlie Beach Population : 74 islands surrounded by crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches

Info

We took a 3-day sailing trip around some of the Whitsunday islands, enjoying the experience of a 83ft maxi ocean racing yacht on 'Boomerang' scuba diving, snorkelling and even playing cricket on the world famous Whitehaven Beach!

Boomerang raced under the name Ondine VII with great success in the past. Designed by German Frers, built in Italy, it is a sloop design, 83ft in length, 20 ft wide and built of high tech carbon fibre with a mast extending 110ftb above the deck. Boomerang started sailing tours last year and can accommodate 26 passengers and 4 crew. We made up 12 passengers on our trip - and had 3 FAB days experiencing a unique experience. We all helped with the raising of sails etc. and were fed like kings. The tour company 'Southern Cross' - we can't speak highly enough of - take a look at the fleet on www.soxsail.com.au
