We were lucky enough to be invited to one
of the pool C early matches as the guests of our honeymooning friends Dawn and

England edged out Samoa 35-22 in a pulsating clash at the MelbourneTelstra Dome
on the Sunday night. It took a piece of Jonny Wilkinson magic late in the second
half to snuff out the Pacific Islanders' challenge.

This televisual bonanza was made all the better by being joined by our old mate Dom from the UK (don't ask how we know him - too long a story!) and meeting 2 of his migrant friends Clare & Richard! Jonny Wilkinson won the battle of the young kickers as England defeated France 24-7 in their RWC 2003 Semi Final match played in driving rain and strong, swirling winds at Telstra Stadium Sydney.

ENGLAND vs Australia
THE FINAL and THE VICTORY

Goal-kicking superstar Jonny Wilkinson shattered Australia with a last-minute drop goal in the second half of extra time to give England a dramatic 20-17 victory in the RWC 2003 Final at Sydney's Telstra Stadium on Saturday, 22 November.
The brilliant flyhalf's winning kick, off his weaker right foot, gave England its first ever RWC Final after the Wallabies had battled back from a 14-5 half-time deficit to level the scores at 14-14 at full time in front of a RWC record 82,957 spectators.
