Info

Took a trip to Mossman Gorge, part of the Daintree National park. Had hoped to swim, but it is actively discouraged. So we all spend the afternoon on the beach at Port Douglas - everyone (except Nia!) enjoyed some boogie board surfing and we were at last able to christen the board we have so carefully transported from Victoria!!

We then took a trip up to Cape Tribulation, crossing the Daintree river by ferry and exploring the magnificent rainforest at the environmental centre, that offered boardwalks at 3 different levels of the rainforest - well worth it. We enjoyed home-made Daintree ice cream, with flavours such as wattle, mango and black sapote! The Bloomfield track up to Cooktown starts here - a bit too much for Bertie Bedford and unfortunately, the cost of continuing up to Cape York, the most Northerly point of the island (Australia!) was a bit too much for our budget. We did manage about 50m on the Bloomfield Track - so we can say we've been on it - but sadly, this marked the point where we turned round and faced the reality that we are now on the homeward stretch of our 'Big Adventure!'
