Queensland - 'Beautiful one day.....perfect the next!'

Our week in Brisbane and its environs was one catching up with old friends from the UK, who live in the bay side village of Manly. This was again a return trip, one that turned into an eating and drink fest - fantastic! Time was spent in the city taking in the buzz of the South Bank markets on a Saturday morning; exploring the harbourside area of Manly and Wynnum (including some great runs through the Wynnum mangrove boardwalks) not to mention the welcome of the boat club; Shailer Park an inland suburb where we were invited for fine food, wine and Bon Viveur, and taking a trip inland to see the Darling Downs, just west of the Great Dividing Range. Our hosts had spent time working in Warwick, referred to as the 'rose and rodeo' city, so we meandered through the hills and sub-tropical rainforest to reach this surprisingly green, verdant rural farming area, famous for its horse and cattle studs and fine wool.
